​35MM: A MUSICAL EXHIBITION vereint Kunstausstellung, Musiktheater und Konzert. Fünfzehn Fotografien von Matthew Murphy inspirierten die Songs von Ryan Scott Oliver; Foto und Musik verschmelzen in der Aufführung zu einem visuell-auditiven Erlebnis. Musikalisch eingefangene Momentaufnahmen, ein Schimmer eines sich entfaltenden Lebens, ein flüchtiger Blick auf ein Geschehen: Diese Sammlung von in Lied und Bild erzählten Geschichten wird kunstvoll zu einem zeitgenössischen, amerikanischen Musiktheater verwoben, einem wahrhaften Multimedia-Musical.

​HINTERGRUND

35MM: A MUSICAL EXHIBITION hatte seine Weltpremiere am 12. März 2012 im Galapagos Art Space in Brooklyn, New York. Unter der Regie von Jeremy Bloom wirkten Alex Brightman, Ben Crawford, Jay Armstrong Johnson, Lindsay Mendez und Betsy Wolfe an der Produktion mit. Die Originalaufnahme der Besetzung wurde am 14. August 2012 von Ghostlight Records veröffentlicht.

​„Die Songs stehen in keinem Zusammenhang, außer dass sie alle lebhafte Ausdrucksformen eines Regenbogens von Emotionen sind. Wenn man sie zusammenfügt, [...] ist dieses Musical eine nachdenklich stimmende, seelische Erkundung zweier Medien, die zu einem verschmelzen“, schrieb die DC Metro Theatre Arts über 35MM: A MUSICAL EXHIBITION.

Casting, transposition, and keys. Companies are encouraged to make the production their own
in regards to casting, and to not feel obligated to use five actors (two female, three male). They
may be creative with casting in terms of both number (more than 5 cast members may be used
and songs re-tracked and reassigned) and gender (a female might sing “Leave Luanne,” or a male
might sing “On Monday”).
